A Story of Hope: AMMAN's Integrated Physiotherapy and Psychology Program
Sumbawa Barat, 7 August 2025 - Imagine a world where every movement is a struggle. For people with disabilities and the elderly in West Sumbawa (KSB) and Sumbawa (KS), mobility can often feel like an unattainable luxury. Some are born with physical challenges, while others face the life-altering effects of illness or accidents. Constant pain, stiff muscles, and high dependence on others can slowly erode one's spirit. All too often, this physical burden is accompanied by an invisible mental toll.

As part of its commitment to the community, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), one of Indonesia's largest copper and gold mining companies, launched the 'Physiotherapy and Psychology Services for People with Disabilities and Their Families' program in KSB and KS. This initiative is more than a typical Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) program; it is a tangible manifestation of the Employee Participation Program (EPP), where AMMAN employees and business partners collaborate, dedicating their energy and time to serve the community.

A Healing Touch for the Body and Soul

Held every two to three months, these integrated health service events take place in local village facilities. A team of physiotherapists provides therapy to help reduce pain, restore mobility, and improve the quality of life for residents, especially those with disabilities and the elderly. At the same time, psychologists offer counseling and psychological therapy, including support for family members or caregivers, as part of an effort to maintain their well-being. Together with trusted partners, this service is designed to support both physical recovery and mental health.

The program has already produced countless inspiring stories. Take for instance, Grandma Nurma, who for years suffered from unbearable pain. "My body feels much healthier, and all the pain is gone after I received medical physiotherapy. For a long time, I couldn't stand up for my prayers. After the medical therapy, I'm starting to get better," she said with tears in her eyes, showing how a small change can make a world of difference in performing daily activities that many of us take for granted.

Then there's Grandpa Sabram Anggir, who felt a significant difference in his knee and left arm. "The pain in my knee and left arm is much better after the therapy. I hope this program can continue so that more people can take turns consulting and receiving physiotherapy," he said.

And Grandpa Oyang, who had suffered from unbearable back pain for the past year, can now smile freely. "I am so happy because I am healthy; the back pain I've had for a year is now gone. There has been a significant change. I hope this can continue, and thank you to AMMAN," he expressed with gratitude.

Warmth and Hope in Every Session

Since its launch in 2024, the program has been held dozens of times, reaching hundreds of people in KSB and KS. More than just numbers, the program has brought tangible impacts: restored mobility, strengthened mental health, and an improved quality of life.

Through the Physiotherapy and Psychology Services, AMMAN is building stronger relationships with the community, demonstrating that care can be a bridge for collaboration. This initiative is part of the company's commitment to supporting a healthier, more independent, and empowered society.
