AI Helps MSMEs in NTB Grow Faster and Smarter
2 October 2026 – In the digital era, the ability to create promotional content has become increasingly important for micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). However, limited time and resources often make this process challenging. With artificial intelligence (AI), MSME owners can now create marketing materials more quickly, easily, and efficiently by providing simple instructions.

To make this technology more accessible to local businesses, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), one of Indonesia’s largest copper and gold mining companies, collaborated with KUMPUL.ID to organize the AI Ignition Road to NTB program. The initiative reached 186 MSME owners, comprising 75 participants in Sumbawa Regency, 50 in West Sumbawa Regency, 31 in Sembalun, and 30 in Jerowaru, East Lombok.

Representing a wide range of business sectors, including processed food and beverages, services, handicrafts, textiles, agriculture, livestock, and tourism, participants were not only introduced to the latest developments in AI but also gained hands-on experience in applying the technology to their respective business needs.

They learned how to create promotional materials, develop marketing copy, manage basic bookkeeping, calculate the cost of goods sold, and prepare sales projections. By using devices already familiar to them, participants discovered that AI can be practical, accessible, and relevant to the everyday challenges faced by MSMEs.

AMMAN Vice President of Policy & Permitting and Social Impact, Priyo Pramono, emphasized the importance of strengthening the digital capabilities of MSMEs in today’s technology-driven era.

“MSME owners in NTB have tremendous creativity and potential. Through AI Ignition Road to NTB, we aim to introduce technologies that can support sales, administration, and operations through the ethical and responsible use of AI. AI is not intended to replace creativity. Instead, it can serve as a business development assistant, helping MSMEs move faster and reach broader market opportunities,” Priyo said.

Technology Tailored to the Needs of MSMEs

Based on feedback collected during the program, participants gained a better understanding that AI does not always have to be complicated or require specialized devices. Its use can begin with simple business needs, such as finding content inspiration, writing product descriptions, planning promotional activities, or recording business finances.

“Knowledge and technology become more meaningful when they can be applied to address everyday business needs. With access to relevant and practical technology, MSME owners can develop the skills and capabilities needed to grow their businesses,” said Mega Prawita, Managing Director of KUMPUL.ID.

However, the convenience offered by AI must still be accompanied by careful judgment. AI-generated information should always be reviewed and adapted to the specific business context, while taking into account accuracy, data security, communication ethics, and copyright considerations.

The program also strengthened local human capital through a Training of Trainers (ToT) program involving 10 young people from West Sumbawa Regency, Sumbawa Regency, and East Lombok. Alongside several AMMAN employees and business partners, the ToT participants served as supporting facilitators throughout the training sessions.

Going forward, they are expected to continue collaborating with AMMAN and local governments to expand the adoption of AI among MSME owners.

Advancing MSME Empowerment in NTB

AI Ignition Road to NTB builds on AMMAN’s ongoing commitment to community economic empowerment through the Bale Berdaya program in Sumbawa Regency, Silaras in West Sumbawa Regency, and Gumi Seri in East Lombok.

As of 2026, more than 1,200 MSMEs supported by AMMAN across the three regions have received training and mentoring. The support provided covers business capacity building, legal compliance, payment digitalization, access to financing, production improvement, branding, and market expansion.

AI Ignition is part of the AI Opportunity Fund: Asia-Pacific, a regional initiative developed in collaboration with AVPN and supported by Google.org and the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

In Indonesia, the program is implemented by KUMPUL.ID to expand access to AI knowledge and skills among micro and small business owners, educators, and young professionals. Through this collaboration, AMMAN aims to equip local MSMEs in NTB with practical AI capabilities and globally recognized certification.
