West Sumbawa 8 October 2024 - One of Indonesia's largest copper-and-gold mining companies, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), and Indonesian national football league club Persija Jakarta are facilitating a D License Certification Program for football coaches from West Sumbawa (KSB), organized by the Football Association of Indonesia (PSSI). This initiative is part of AMMAN's Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM) aimed at enhancing human resources by developing local football talent.
AMMAN Vice President of Social Impact Priyo Pramono said, “This program aims to enhance the skills and qualifications of local coaches. It is essential to support the development of football in KSB. This initiative also reflects a long-term commitment to promoting football by ensuring coaches are equipped with modern techniques and knowledge to support the football infrastructure in the area,” said Priyo.
Through the D License Certification Program, participants gain the comprehensive knowledge and skills needed to provide training at the grassroots or junior level. This includes the basic principles of coaching, age-appropriate player development techniques, tactical awareness, and fitness and injury recovery programs.
Moreover, participants will also gain an understanding of sports psychology, including player motivation and stress management. Field practice sessions will provide participants with direct feedback to improve their skills. Upon completing the program, coaches will receive a D License Certification from PSSI, which is a nationally recognized requirement for further coaching qualifications.
Priyo added, “This initiative not only focuses on improving the individual abilities of coaches but also has broader strategic objectives. By investing in the education and certification of local coaches, AMMAN strives to build a strong foundation for the development of football in KSB. These certified coaches will act as mentors and role models for young players, encouraging the emergence of a new generation of football talent.”
Indra Irawan, the Secretary-General of Askab PSSI KSB, expressed his appreciation for this initiative. "We are grateful to AMMAN for their support in this certification program. This is a crucial step in building a strong foundation for football in West Sumbawa. With certified coaches, we are optimistic that local football development will be more directed and structured. These coaches will not only train but also serve as role models for young people in our area,” he said.
Indra added, “This program also opens up connections with coaches from other regions, which will undoubtedly enrich insights and collaboration in the future. We highly appreciate AMMAN's efforts to provide local coaches with the opportunity to improve their skills.”
In addition to the coaching certification program, AMMAN has several football development programs for the KSB community, including collaboration with the Asian Soccer Academy (ASA) to organize the KSB League, involving youth aged 15 to 18 years and special competitions for people with disabilities. These football development programs aim to not only develop football skills but also to provide education on life skills, health, and safety to participants.
“As part of the Sports for Development pillar, this community development program through football is not only about sporting skills. It is also about increasing the capacity of the community, especially the younger generation. By involving more youth in structured sports activities, this program contributes to their physical, mental, and social development, while also enhancing community pride and creating opportunities for young athletes. This is part of our effort to realize the company's vision to provide a legacy of best for the KSB community in the future.” concluded Priyo.
