Amman Received Aditama Trophy for the Environmental Management

PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (Amman) received the prestigious Good Mining Practice Award from the Energy and Mineral Resources (EMR) Ministry in several categories for its commitment to exercising responsible and sustainable mining activities. One of which is the Aditama trophy – the top rank award – in the Management of Mineral and Coal Mining Environment category.

President Director of PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara, Rachmat Makkasau, mentioned that this accomplishment was made possible due to the hard work of all employees and business partners, despite the challenges from the COVID-19 pandemic. “We are committed to complying with all regulations on good mining practices. Amman appreciates the support and guidance from the EMR Ministry on every stage of our operations. We aim to create a legacy of best in everything we do,” said Rachmat.

This gold-level trophy is the fourth award that the company has obtained since 2004. In addition to the Aditama trophy, Amman also received the Utama trophy, a Silver award, in the management of mineral and coal conservation category.

The reclamation and revegetation are two exemplary environmental management projects that have been done concurrently with the mine operations. Amman has been operating a permanent plant nursery with 70,000-100,000 seedlings capacity each year in the concession area. This nursery is used to re-greening a 95-hectare reclamation area. To control soil erosion, Amman utilizes coconut coir or coconets and combines it with the hydroseeding method.

During the Good Mining Practice Award ceremony that was virtually held on Tuesday (29/9), EMR Minister Arifin Tasrif explained the main objective of this award in his opening remarks. “I hope that all companies that received the awards will remain consistent and become the role model for others,” said Arifin.

This Aditama trophy extends the list of achievements that Amman has accomplished in performing sustainable and environmentally friendly mining practices. The company has previously achieved Green PROPER (Company Performance Rating Program) from the Environment and Forestry Ministry (KLHK) seven times. The ministry grants the Green PROPER to companies beyond compliance with the government’s standard on environmental management and the local community development. Additionally, the KLHK granted Amman the Green Forest Inspirator Award in 2019. In the same year, the company won the respected Global CSR Summit & Good Governance Awards organized by Pinnacle Group International in Serawak, Malaysia.
