AMMAN Sends Off AMMAN Scholars Beneficiaries
West Sumbawa, 18 July 2024 - Reinforcing its commitment to developing exceptional human resources, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (“AMMAN”) has sent off 32 top students who have been awarded the 2024 AMMAN Vocational High School Scholarship Program. These students will pursue studies at five vocational schools, covering eight fields of study. The AMMAN Vocational High School Scholarship Program, part of the AMMAN Scholars initiative, is now in its fourth year and has benefited over 190 students since 2021.

This program aims to create an excellent and competitive young generation in West Sumbawa (KSB) by developing human resources equipped with the skills to compete in various industries, ensuring a better future. The send-off ceremony for the fourth cohort of AMMAN Scholars took place today at the Regent of West Sumbawa residence hall. The event was attended by local government officials from KSB, AMMAN representatives, the 2024 AMMAN Scholars, and their parents.

“We express our tremendous appreciation to AMMAN for its efforts to enhance the quality of KSB youth as the nation’s future generation through the AMMAN Scholars program. We hope this program will continue and provide a sustainable and measurable positive social impact, supporting the realization of a Golden Indonesia. We also thank AMMAN for setting an example and educating various local institutions and agencies through this program. On behalf of the KSB government, I wish the best for all our students,” said West Sumbawa Regent Dr.Ir.H.W.Musyafirin during the send-off ceremony.

AMMAN Vice President of Social Impact Priyo Pramono noted that developing superior human resources is one of AMMAN’s focal points within its Community Development and Empowerment Program (PPM). As the largest copper-and-gold mining company in the province of West Nusa Tenggara, the local communities around its operational areas are the primary focus of this initiative. Of the 32 AMMAN scholarship recipients in 2024, 27 are from KSB, and five are from the eastern portion of Sumbawa (KS).

“The AMMAN Vocational High School Scholarship Program is designed in collaboration with various stakeholders, aligning with the needs of the industry and the local government’s vision for KSB development. The aim is for each graduate to be prepared to meet the domestic labor market demands and to compete globally with skills relevant to industry requirements,” explained Priyo.
AMMAN also collaborates with leading strategic partners. The selected scholarship recipients will study at five of the best vocational schools in Java, including SMK Raden Umar Said (RUS) Kudus, SMK NU Banat Kudus, SMK NU Ma’arif Kudus, SMK PGRI 1 Kudus, and SMK Brantas Karangkates Malang.

The 2024 AMMAN Vocational High School Scholarship selection process began on 1 June 2024, with 559 students from various junior high schools in KSB and KS participating. As a merit-based scholarship, the selection stages are conducted transparently and objectively. The selection involves educators from the target vocational schools and is facilitated by a third party, a credible organization in human resource development. The selection process includes several stages: administrative review, academic potential testing and essays, panel interviews, and health tests.

Jumadi, a recipient of the AMMAN Scholars scholarship in the Software and Game Development (PPLG) department at SMK Raden Umar Said Kudus, said, “I am thrilled and proud to have passed the stringent selection stages and to be declared one of the AMMAN Scholars scholarship recipients this year. This scholarship is not just an opportunity to study at top vocational schools in Indonesia, but also a motivation to continue excelling and contributing to education and society.”

Arifatur Rahmaniyah, a parent of scholarship recipients, also expressed joy, saying, “The AMMAN Scholars program is very beneficial for our children. They gain new and useful skills, especially in developing competencies according to their talents, interests, and aspirations. My daughter found the right place to support her talents, and hopefully, it will result in high-quality works that benefit society. I hope this program continues and more expertise fields are offered,” she explained.

Those qualifying as AMMAN Scholars will receive a laptop and payments to cover tuition, monthly expenses such as accommodation, meals, transportation, health insurance, annual round-trip tickets, parent visit facilitation, and eventual professional certification. During their studies, mentors and guardians will ensure the safety and comfort of the students. Scholarship recipients also join the AMMAN Scholars Leadership program for character development and soft skills training, including adaptability, employability, and GRIT.

“We extend our gratitude for the cooperation and support of the KSB and KS local governments and all stakeholders involved in this program. This good collaboration has been ongoing for four years, and we hope it continues to create a legacy of best for our future generation and our nation,” Priyo concluded.
