West Sumbawa, 20 Januari 2023 – PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMNT) obtained approval for production and sales amounts in the 2023 Work Plan and Budget (RKAB). In the approval letter, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) also approved export quotas for 2023. This approval also covers technical and environmental aspects, labor, community development and empowerment, finance, and other aspects.
AMNT President Director Rachmat Makkasau addressed his appreciation to ESDM Ministry, especially for the continuous support to push the completion of West Sumbawa copper smelter project. “We have been communicating with the government to find the best solution for the challenges that we are facing in the past three years. The construction of AMMAN’s copper smelter has been hampered by the COVID-19 pandemic and the Ukraine-Russia war,” said Rachmat.
The company is working with its partners and the government to be able to complete the project as soon as possible and likely nearing the end of 2024. COVID-19 has caused significant challenges in the procurement process and the mobility of technical experts. Meanwhile, the Ukraine-Russia war has also caused limited mobility of equipment and experts. Based on the verification in July 2022, AMMAN’s copper smelter has reached 47,4% progress development. The company is still waiting for the result of the January 2023 verification. However, based on the investment realization up to January 2023, AMMAN has reached more than 51%.
