West Sumbawa, 30 December 2025 – Nestled within the verdant hills and coastal ecosystems of West Sumbawa Regency (KSB) lies a rich biodiversity that serves as a heritage for the future. Recognizing that operational sustainability must flourish in harmony with environmental preservation, PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), one of Indonesia's largest copper and gold mining companies, has officially strengthened its commitment through a strategic partnership with the Nusa Tenggara Barat Natural Resources Conservation Agency (BKSDA NTB).
This partnership is built upon a mutual understanding to achieve more integrated environmental protection. Through this synergy, coordination in safeguarding ecosystems within the mine’s surrounding areas is expected to become more effective, delivering a broader positive impact.
The collaboration was formalized through the signing of an agreement to strengthen the functions of the Conservation of Biological Natural Resources and their Ecosystems (KSDAHE) in three priority locations: Pedauh Nature Reserve, Jereweh Nature Reserve, and Danau Rawa Taliwang Nature Tourism Park. The cooperation encompasses area surveillance, the protection of endemic flora and fauna, the development of research information centers, and the promotion of green economic empowerment for local communities.
A key implementation of this collaboration is taking place in the Jereweh Nature Reserve through the conservation of the Yellow-crested Cockatoo, an endemic bird species currently facing the threat of extinction. This program extends beyond wildlife protection; AMMAN is positioning the local community as the frontline of conservation. Residents are empowered to monitor habitats and serve as active conservation educators. Under this model, environmental protection is no longer viewed as a burden, but as a means of enhancing community welfare through harmony with nature.
Kartika Octaviana, Vice President of Corporate Communications at AMMAN, emphasized the significance of this long-term collaboration. "At AMMAN, we believe that every step the company takes must leave a life-giving mark. This partnership with BKSDA NTB is part of a series of strategic initiatives aimed at ensuring sustainable environmental protection. We want to ensure that the beauty and biodiversity of West Sumbawa are not just stories for our grandchildren, but a living legacy that continues to grow. This is our mission: to mine with responsibility, and to protect with heart," she stated.
This initiative bolsters AMMAN’s established environmental track record, which includes post-mining land reclamation using local species, sea turtle conservation in coastal areas, and waste management based on the principles of reduce, reuse, and recycle.
Echoing this sentiment, the Head of BKSDA NTB, Budhy Kurniawan, expressed his hope that this synergy would catalyze more robust biodiversity management, capable of providing economic added value for communities living around conservation areas.
The Director of Conservation Planning, Ahmad Munawir, S.Hut., M.Si., also shared his appreciation: "The cooperation with BKSDA NTB, founded on principles of mutual trust and benefit, is a tangible manifestation of the 'good mining practices' implemented by AMMAN."
Through this partnership, AMMAN demonstrates that industrial progress and environmental sustainability are not mutually exclusive but can walk hand-in-hand toward a greener future for Indonesia.
