Jakarta, 9 September 2024 - PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (AMMAN), one of Indonesia’s largest copper-and-gold mining companies, has recently been named one of the World’s Most Trustworthy Companies 2024 by Newsweek magazine. AMMAN ranks 15th out of 53 companies from various countries in the Materials and Chemicals category.
The World’s Most Trustworthy Companies evaluation includes publicly listed companies in 20 target countries with revenues exceeding USD 500 million. In collaboration with global data research firm Statista, Newsweek surveyed 70,000 participants across these 20 countries. Each participant rated companies they were familiar with based on three criteria: trust from (potential) investors, trust from (potential) customers, and trust from (potential) employees. Additionally, the assessment included monitoring sentiment towards the companies as expressed on public social media posts.
AMMAN Vice President of Corporate Communications & Investor Relations Kartika Octaviana expressed gratitude for public trust in the company. “We always prioritize integrity in our operations. AMMAN’s commitment to excellence and quality is maintained through ongoing improvements, strengthening our reputation as a leader in operational performance in the mining industry. We believe this is the key to building public trust,” said Kartika.
AMMAN’s Journey to Becoming a Leading Copper-and-Gold Producer
To realize maximum benefit from the company’s world-class copper-and-gold reserves, AMMAN has conducted several bold initiatives to enhance productivity and operational efficiency.
One of the first was the closure of 40 percent of its mining capacity for three months in 2017 to restructure mining strategies. The primary innovation was re-arranging the mining plan so that the excavators and haulers work more productively and efficiently. This breakthrough significantly increased the volume of production blasting with optimal fragmentation.
AMMAN also operates 138 CAT793C trucks at the Batu Hijau mine to achieve high productivity. These trucks, which can carry up to 240 tons of mineral ore, require high-cost maintenance. AMMAN took over the Machine Rebuild Center (MRC) and Component Rebuild Center (CRC) assembly facilities to boost maintenance efficiency from a third party in 2018. As such, AMMAN can dismantle and reassemble each truck’s components in just 23 days in Batu Hijau. As a result, AMMAN has significantly reduced assembly costs by around 35% compared to the previous assembly process in East Kalimantan, which took 9-12 months.
AMMAN is undertaking several expansion projects, including a copper smelter and precious metal refinery and expanding processing plant capacity and supporting facilities. These projects will further bolster AMMAN’s position as a thriving and competitive mining company.
