AMMAN Honored by NTB Governor for Child Protection Initiatives in West Sumbawa
West Sumbawa, 27 January 2026 – PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN), one of Indonesia’s largest copper and gold mining operations, has received an award from the Governor of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) for its significant contributions to child protection across 16 villages in West Sumbawa Regency (KSB). The award was presented during the BERANI II Regional Inspiration Forum, coinciding with the NTB Anniversary celebrations, in recognition of AMMAN’s collaborative commitment alongside local government and development partners including Yayasan CARE Peduli, LPA NTB, and a UN consortium consisting of UNICEF, UNFPA, and UN Women.

Governor of NTB, Lalu Muhammad Iqbal, praised the initiative as a systematic and sustainable collaboration model, particularly through the strengthening of Women-Friendly and Child-Proactive Village (DRPPA) regulations at the grassroots level. “This award is a tribute to AMMAN’s tangible commitment. These efforts are catalytic, systematic, integrated, and institutionalized. Ensuring sustainability by reinforcing child protection through Village Regulations (Perdes DRPPA) is an extraordinary collaborative model. This is the key to breaking the cycle of child marriage and ensuring a brighter future for the next generation of NTB,” he stated.

In line with this, AMMAN Vice President of Social Impact, Priyo Pramono, emphasized that the company’s focus extends beyond economic aspects to the social foundation of the community. “For us, child protection is the cornerstone of a healthy society. We are committed to continuing our contribution toward creating a safe environment in KSB. By strengthening village policies and training paralegals, we are building both a protective fortress and a bridge for their dreams,” said Priyo.

AMMAN’s child protection efforts also encompass the fulfillment of children's rights to health and optimal growth. Through the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Program, AMMAN reached 436 children in the mine-circle areas suffering from stunting, underweight, and wasting. As a result, 32% of these children successfully graduated from stunting status, with normal weight gain reaching 86–98%.

This series of collaborative efforts contributed to West Sumbawa Regency (KSB) achieving the "Madya" (Intermediate) level as a Child-Friendly Regency (KLA) in 2025, with child protection implementation reaching down to the village level. This achievement also positions KSB as the region with the lowest stunting rate in NTB Province.

In the field of legal protection, AMMAN facilitated the issuance of DRPPA Village Regulations in 16 villages, trained 78 paralegal cadres, and developed 29 child facilitators. This model has since been replicated by the KSB Government in 18 additional villages through Village Budget (APBDes) funding.

Prevention efforts are also driven through the “Lingkar Remaja” (Youth Circle) program, which reached 426 middle and high school students with reproductive health education and anemia prevention.

Through an integrated approach involving regulation, education, and community assistance, AMMAN demonstrates that business sustainability remains harmoniously aligned with efforts to protect the future of the younger generation.
