JAKARTA, 5 October 2023 – PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (“AMMAN“), a subsidiary of PT Amman Mineral Internasional Tbk (stock code “AMMN”) was awarded three Good Mining Practice (GMP) Awards 2023 from the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM). This is a repeat of AMMAN’s achievement of winning three similar awards in 2022.
The GMP awards in the Mineral and Coal Mining category included the Adhitama Award for Environmental Protection Management, the Utama Award for Mining Technical Management, and the Utama Award for Standardization and Business Services.
AMMAN President Director Rachmat Makkasau explained that these awards recognize the company’s efforts to apply sound mining-engineering principles consistently. “As one of Indonesia’s largest copper-and-gold-mining companies, AMMAN strives to balance mining activities and environmental preservation and the welfare of communities around the mining area. This serves as an integral part of sustainable business operations to realize the company’s vision: to create a legacy of best. This award further motivates AMMAN to always be consistent in its efforts to prioritize these principles,” Rachmat explained.
The awards reflect AMMAN’s consistency in implementing standards for environmental management in mining activities through environmental-management efforts, including reclamation, watershed rehabilitation, revegetation, plant nurseries, ethnobotanical planting, and other programs. AMMAN has planted more than five million trees in decommissioned operational areas.
Environmental innovation initiatives include the Sumbawa solar PV, recycling Fly Ash Bottom Ash (FABA) waste, and the conservation and restoration of Gili Balu as a future tourist attraction.
The Good Mining Practice Awards represent an appreciation from the Indonesian government to mining-sector business entities that have made significant efforts to implement good mining engineering principles, as well as a benchmark for the performance results of guidance and supervision carried out by the government.
