Indonesian Tree Planting Day: AMMAN Plants Over 50 Thousand Seedlings
West Sumbawa, 4 December 2025 – Hundreds of community members across six locations on Sumbawa Island simultaneously moved to plant thousands of tree seedlings. From the coast of Kenawa to the slopes of Lunyuk, the community worked together in a spirit of gotong royong (mutual cooperation) to green the area.

This activity was held in commemoration of the 2025 Indonesian Tree Planting Day (HMPI). PT Amman Mineral Nusa Tenggara (AMMAN) prepared over 50,000 seedlings to be planted with members of the Forest Farmer Groups (Kelompok Tani Hutan - KTH), local communities, and AMMAN employees. This process was carried out in planned, staggered stages throughout November 2025 in various strategic locations around the operational area.

This approach was designed to ensure that planting was done at the optimal time in each location. The thousands of seedlings planted consist of various conservation and economically valuable tree species, such as coffee seedlings, which were prioritized in the Rarak Ronges area. The greening areas include:

  1. Kiantar, Seteluk (KTH Sagena Indah): Planting was centered at the Sagena Indah Social Forestry (Perhutanan Sosial - PS) Demo Plot, supporting community efforts to manage a sustainable forest.
  2. Rarak Ronges, Brang Brea: Focused on planting 1,600 coffee seedlings across four demo plots. This initiative not only greens the land but also has the potential to become a new, sustainable source of income for local farmers.
  3. Emang Lestari, Lunyuk (KTH Brang Beh): Planting was carried out at the Brang Lamar Social Forestry (PS) Demo Plot, strengthening community empowerment programs in the forestry sector.
  4. Lunyuk Ode, Lunyuk: A total of 50,000 seedlings were planted in the AMNT Replacement Reclamation Area, affirming the company's responsibility to restore the ecological function of post-mining land.
  5. Pototano (Kenawa Island): Planting took place on the outskirts of Kenawa Island – Gili Balu, aiming to protect the coastal ecosystem and prevent abrasion.
  6. Batu Putih: Planting in Batu Putih Village, as an effort towards land rehabilitation and environmental impact mitigation.
Strong Collaboration: Synergy Between AMMAN, Local Government, and Community

The success of this program was supported by close collaboration between AMMAN, the West Sumbawa Local Government, and various other related agencies. The activity successfully mobilized the active participation of hundreds of people across multiple locations, demonstrating the synergy between the private sector and the government in achieving sustainable development goals.

Kartika Octaviana, Vice President of Corporate Communications at AMMAN, emphasized that this program is a manifestation of AMMAN's efforts to preserve the environment and support the community's economic growth through agroforestry programs.

“This planting is AMMAN's effort in greening and preserving the environment around the mining area and its surroundings. More than just concern, we hope these tree seedlings will eventually become a pillar of a healthy ecosystem and support the improvement of the community's economy through the production of economically valuable commodities. This was rolled out in phases throughout November with the collaboration of all parties to achieve maximum results,” Kartika explained.

AMMAN's Sustainable Initiatives: Nurturing Environment and Economy

AMMAN's commitment to community empowerment and environmental preservation is also reflected in various sustainable initiatives, such as:

  • Empowerment of Forest Farmer Groups (KTH): Supporting KTH through training, mentoring, and the provision of infrastructure for community-based forest management.
  • Development of Integrated Farming Systems: Encouraging community business diversification through the application of Agroforestry (agriculture and forestry) and Agrosilvopasture(agriculture, forestry, and livestock) systems. This includes the development of local superior commodities, such as coffee, forest honey, and increased livestock yields.
  • Marine Conservation Programs: Various coral reef and turtle conservation programs in coastal areas, underscoring the company's attention to the sustainability of both marine and terrestrial ecosystems.
  • Land Reclamation Management: Consistently implementing post-mining land reclamation programs in accordance with the highest standards, ensuring holistic ecosystem restoration.
Through this integrated and collaborative planting action, AMMAN demonstrates that large industrial operations can proceed in harmony with environmental and social responsibility, creating a sustainable, positive impact for West Sumbawa.
